Watercolors are for summer; Arkansas is for lovers

Last summer, I got really into art. I took my sketchbook to the beach and filled it up with little cartoon-ish drawings of paper airplanes and girls in dresses. Then, if time allowed, I'd get out this old strip of watercolors and paint them.

Back to School!

Back to school shopping is the best part of going back to school!

horses and summertime

This one's my favorite. Erin and I hadn't taken any photos in a while, so this was fun. It was the first time we didn't have to walk or bike anywhere (do I look less sweaty than usual?)

We came across this huge farm right near her house. It was just beautiful open fields with real horses! We were driving around, on the lookout for somewhere to stop, and bam! Horses! This one in the bottom picture was getting really close to me when it was chomping on some grass. Horse's teeth are so funny!

It's almost time for school again. Summertime is so nice. You can wear pretty much whatever you like, as long as you've got sunscreen on your shoulders. I'll miss breezy button downs, warn in shorts, and rainbows- my summer uniform. Once school runs around it's all "cardigans! belts! skirts! boots!" My goal for this year is to keep alive this simple, easy style I've adopted. Stick to the basics. Don't think too much about what to wear. Choose one-size-fits-all. And of course, above all, keep it clean and classic.

The necklace you see in the first two pics I got in CA. It was actually just a too-big ring that I put on a chain. I wear it a lot more often now. Ring necklaces are really cute, and it was an easy fix!



home and other magical things

i've never been so happy to be home. this is part of a journal entry i wrote just a few minutes ago, while i continue to adjust to the time change.

"my brain is running. the drugs i've taken for this cold have jacked up my heartbeat. what I think I want to study changes ten times a day! over ten times. ideas just run run run through my head, pausing while i consider them and then toss them aside in the growing monster pile of words and futures. today it was business management ... now its not. each idea seems to be selling myself short- pushing me back from what i may be able to accomplish. tonight (these past few hours), i've been stuck on a dream i've had for years- play writing. except the only play i've ever written was a just really terrible one-act about aliens. heh. but now my brain finally stops running and i realize: i'm sixteen. and that's a great age to start something new."

...and HPp7p2? everything i ever wanted and a bag of peanut-butter m&ms!!! oh, how i obsessively love you world of harry potter/hermione granger. OK and i won't give anything away but voldemort baby?! what and ew?! i should be seeing it 1 or 2 more times, so maybe i'll have gathered more thoughts about it then. i think it may have (it definitely) set off this whole chaos-brain deal, or "little explosives that spread like wildfire." i wrote this the night i saw it:

"what i want most is to share what has inspired me in a way that will inspire others. writing, art, performance, speech, words, hands, laughs.. anything that will communicate this kind of magic- magic we can all create and be a part of."

p.s. this is sort of a leap for me to share the things i write. i write with the mindset that no one will ever read it. i like to share, but i am also cautious.

That House is Haunted, and Erin's at Camp

These were our "I need to finish this roll of film so I can get it developed" shots. So, we ran outside to my backyard and took some. I think they came out to be really great! It must be the film camera, or maybe the lighting, but something about these photos seems creepy. It's interesting. Maybe it's me. I've accomplished the weird, agitated model expression... and in the second picture its back to the classic "what face do I make- wait! I'm still laughing!"
